Learning Objectives

Having completed this session you will be able to:
  • Describe how mental health problems can have a negative effect on physical health in children and young people
  • Outline mental health problems caused by brain disorders
  • Discuss how physical illness can lead to emotional and behavioural changes in children and make it more likely that they develop mental health problems
  • Describe how these joint physical/mental health problems can be helped
  • Name services available and outline what treatment may be offered
