Dr Raphael Kelvin first trained as a GP, before becoming a psychiatrist to follow his interest in human development and a wish to intervene early and effectively.
He was previously the National Professional Advisor for Children and Young People's Mental Health and Wellbeing at the Department of Health, England. He led the establishment of the CYP IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) initiative and MindEd. Dr Kelvin helped set the 4 strategic goals of evidence-based, outcomes-focused, user-informed, quality-driven CYPMHS.
He worked clinically with complex children, young people and families. He has a special interest in depression, emotional disorders and self-harm and is active in related research.
