- This session is aimed at a specialist audience: trainee and practising counsellors. The session provides an introduction to the ways in which the law can impact on the practice of counsellors working with children and young people. The session looks at different ways in which the law can apply to working with this client group, and how this relates to ethics, policy and day-to-day practice. It also looks at different 'levels' of the law, such as Acts of Parliament, case law and codes of practice. Finally, the session looks at some of the main problem areas regarding the law which counsellors may come across, and sets out some of the main sources of help available to work with these issues.
