Session information

- Title:
- Left ventricular function
- Description:
- This session explains how to asses left ventricular (LV) function using both qualitative and quantitative methods. By the end of this session you will be able to recognise and describe simple abnormalities in LV size and function. You will also learn how certain pathologies and interventions may influence the interpretation of a basic transthoracic echocardiography (TTE or 'echo') examination in the critical care setting, including the importance of clinical context and recognising when expert assistance is needed.
- Hierarchy:
- Intensive Care Echo and Basic Lung Ultrasound (ICE-BLU) > Intensive Care Echo & Basic Lung Ultrasound > Course Sessions > Left ventricular function
- Author(s):
-
Dave Woodward
- Created:
- 29 Jan 2014
- Last Major Update:

- Keywords:
- 305-0004, left ventricle, normal, dilation, function, impaired, hypertrophy, contractility, measurement, quantitative, eyeballing, segments, ischaemia
