This programme comprises of elearning sessions relevant to Level 1, 2 and 3 for Safeguarding Children and Young People.
All health and care professionals have a key role to play in safeguarding children and young people.
Level 1 is aimed at non-clinical staff; Level 2 is aimed at all clinical staff and Level 3 is for clinical staff working with children, young people and/or their parents/carers as described in the Intercollegiate Document. All sessions also align to the latest Core Skills Traning Framework (Skills for Health).
Level 3 in particular, covers a wide range of topics including management of sudden or unexpected death in childhood, parental risk factors, unexplained injuries, neglect in a disabled child, fabricated and induced illness and adolescents presenting with suspected sexual assault.
Level 1 and 2 sessions are also available to access via the Statutory and Mandatory Training Programme.
Level 2 is the minimum level for all non-clinical and clinical staff who, within their role, have contact (however small) with children, young people and/or parents or carers or adults who may pose a risk to children.
Level 3 is aimed at all clinical staff working with children, young people and/or their parents or carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the health needs of a looked after child or young person or care leaver.
