Blood Components
Good Manufacturing Practice
Consent
Transfusion Reactions
Cell Salvage
SHOT (Serious Hazards of Transfusion)
An Introduction to Transfusion Laboratory Practice
Use of Anti-D Immunoglobulin in Pregnancy
The modules have been written for clinical and laboratory healthcare staff involved in the transfusion process (in adults, neonates, infants and children). The modules cover each step of the transfusion process highlighting current recommendations, best practice, and legal requirements. Additional modules cover associated areas of practice. Successful completion of the modules does not confirm competence; please check your local policies for any additional requirements before independent practice.
Please refer to local guidelines to identify which modules are required for your role. It is recommended that clinical staff complete Essential Transfusion Practice before progressing to the more role specific modules, it provides the base line knowledge required and this is built on in the subsequent modules.
