Learning Path Information
- Title:
- e-IRMER Module 04 - Diagnostic Radiology
- Description:
- This course describes the physics behind different types of x-ray imaging and how x-ray equipment works. It goes on to discuss the different qualities of x-ray equipment, how different exposure parameters and techniques affect patient doses and the quality control processes that can be conducted in-house. Fluoroscopy systems are described along with the factors that affect dose, and how to reduce dose from fluoroscopy examinations. The radiological safety considerations for dental units is also detailed. The course then discusses the physics of film/screen systems and the different types of digital imaging systems.
- Hierarchy:
- Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (e-IRMER) > e-IRMER Module 04 - Diagnostic Radiology
- Keywords:
- physics, x-ray, equipment, patient dose, fluoroscopy, dentistry, dental unit, digital imaging, film
