This module explains how to recognise patients at risk of AKI and try to prevent the development of this condition. In addition it describes how to diagnose the presence of AKI and how to determine it's cause. It also describes how to provide fluid resuscitation and maintain fluid balance in the patient as well as the basic principles of management of specific causes of AKI and dialysis treatment of AKI.
