The Supporting Self Care e-learning course contains three short sessions, designed to help healthcare professionals to support individuals with long term conditions gain the confidence and skills to take control of their own health and wellbeing. The sessions describe what self care support is and the benefits to patients; looks at consultations and how to get the best from a discussion with a patient about self care support and considers the range of self care options available such as information; skills and confidence training; tools and self monitoring devices; healthy lifestyle choices and support networks. The sessions take approximately 20 minutes to complete and use a variety of interactive media, including videos and case studies. By the end of the learning healthcare professionals will be able to help people understand their condition and make informed choices about the support they wish to access.
