Description:

This pathway includes haemovigilance, sampling procedures, safe blood sampling for transfusion, and ABO blood group serology, and is aimed at Phlebotomists and any other staff undertaking solely the sampling of blood in the transfusion process.

On completion of the course you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

• The most common errors in the transfusion process
• Basic ABO serology
• The correct procedures for undertaking a pre-transfusion sample safely
