The aim of this e-learning programme is to support people and organisations who are considering, developing, authorising and using patient group directions (PGDs) to deliver NHS services in line with legislation and NICE medicines practice guideline (MPG2).
On completion of all aspects of this learning programme you should be able to:
- work with interprofessional colleagues to determine whether a PGD is the most appropriate way to supply or administer a medicine in a particular clinical situation
- use current legislation and guidelines to develop and implement PGDs to ensure patients get timely access to safe and effective care
- apply the appropriate competency frameworks and governance arrangements within your professional responsibility to develop, authorise, use, review or update a PGD
- refer to and contribute to the local practice collection on PGDs on the NICE website. - Created:
