This session will explore the background to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). It will consider the principles that underpin DoLS, give some definitions of key terms and conclude by explaining the overall process to be followed to obtain a deprivation of liberty authorisation. The six different DoLS assessments will also be introduced.
