- This session is for the specialist audience of trainee and practicing counsellors working with children and young persons. The session aims to provide a background on the core condition of communicating acceptance. Consideration is given to acknowledging and working through contextual and internal blocks. The session gives an understanding of what it means to engage in an non-judgmental way when working therapeutically with children and young people. Links to self-awareness and communication skills techniques are provided, in terms of how body language and words can be used to show an accepting presence. Video examples are given to provide examples of acceptance being conveyed in practice and allow participants to learn how they can assess their own competencies through self-reflection and supervision.
