Session information
- Title:
- Developing and sharing understanding with the family
- Description:
- This session is aimed at more experienced/specialist users and demonstrates how to work collaboratively with families to develop a formulation. A formulation is a way to describe the difficulties in a family. In systemic family therapy a formulation includes ways of understanding how the family 'system' deals with difficulties and sometimes keeps them going. We will describe best practice around developing a formulation, including how to work with the family so that the formulation is developed in collaboration with them. Skills such as summarising can be very helpful and these will also be illustrated.
