- Description:
- In this session the basic principles of maintenance of general anaesthesia will be covered. The theatre environment will be discussed in the context of the interface between patient and the surgical procedure. There will be emphasis on the overriding need for the anaesthetist to ensure a safe environment for the unconscious patient. The complex interactions occurring between the anaesthetic, surgical and scrub teams will be explored, together with the importance of the team approach.
