Programme information
- Title:
- MindEd Combining Therapies
- Description:
-
Who is this for?
This programme is designed to be open and meaningful to all MindEd users, that is; all adults with any responsibility for children or young people, parents, carers and young people themselves.
What is it for?
Combining therapies refers to situations where two or more treatments or interventions are being delivered at the same time to the same child, young person or family. When children, young people and families receive such combined treatments it is very important that care makes sense to all involved. This is a challenge due to the increased complexity and number of people involved and blind spots or contradictions in care that can occur. This MindEd programme has been created to help overcome those difficulties.
For professionals taking this course it will eventually form part of a larger national programme of training and development in the HEE/CYP IAPT Combining therapies training programme.
What is in the programme?
Traditionally Combination therapies are taken to mean that one of the treatments involves medication. However, the structured care approach considered in this MindEd training programme is equally applicable where none of the combined treatments is medication.
The programme starts with an introduction to the structured care framework, The Fundamentals of Combination Therapies. In these three linked sessions you can explore a structured care approach that supports high quality delivery of combined treatments.
The Neuroscience module provides you with an insight into the rapidly developing science that underpins the treatments or interventions.
The next five modules in the MindEd Combining therapies programme cover specific problem areas in children and young people’s mental health:
• Emotional disorders
• Eating disorders
• Emotional dysregulation
• Neurodevelopmental disorders
• Bipolar and psychosis in young people
Throughout you will find links to other relevant MindEd e learning sessions to help you build a bespoke learning experience.
