This session will consider approaches to managing a case in which fabricated and induced illness (FII) is suspected. While the session is based on the perspective of a paediatrician who takes a referral for specialist appraisal of a suspected FII case, it demonstrates that other health professionals including GPs, A&E doctors and nurses, the child and adolescent mental health team, health visitors, school nurses, therapists and dieticians, may be directly involved in this difficult area. Paediatric surgeons, anaesthetists and other specialists may also be involved. These sessions have been updated in 2015 by Dr Fiona Straw, Dr Leonie Pereira and Dr Rajiv Mittal wth quality assurance by Dr Andrea Goddard and Dr Anne Aukett. - Hierarchy:
- Ophthalmology (Eye-Site) > Eye-Site 00 Ophthalmology Curriculum > How the Ophthalmologist approaches their practice (Emotional intelligences) > 10) Attitudes, Ethics & Responsibilities (AER) > AER15 Safeguarding > 03_06 Level 3 - Fabricated and Induced Illness
