The e-learning programme consists of a general session on ultrasound basics which coveres ultrasound physics, artefacts and how to examine a patient with ultrasound.
This basic ultrasound session is followed by 4 folders focusing on specific aspects of ultrasound. Each folder contains a knowledge session followed by an assessment (except for Vascular ultrasound (which is optional). You need 75% to pass and get your FAMUS certificate.
Thoracic ultrasound: covers artefacts encountered in chest ultrasound, the appearances of pneumonia and pleural effusion and how to use the Bedside Lung Ultrasound in Emergency (BLUE) protocol to assess patients with respiratory failure.
Abdominal and renal ultrasound: coveres the 7 point FAMUS abdominal scan to exclude obstructive uropathy and about free fluid in the abdomen and the best location to sample it.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) ultrasound: covers how to rule-in a DVT
Vascular ultrasound (optional): covers techniques for ultrasound guided needling. - Created:
