Description:

This programme has been developed in partnership with NHS Digital and is designed to provide trust and protection for the use of confidential patient information throughout health and care services.

Patients should be assured that those involved in handling and processing their data respect their choices about whether to share it for purposes beyond their individual care, such as for research or managing local services.

The National Data Opt-out was introduced in England on 25 May 2018, from which point NHS Digital has been applying national data opt-outs to its data disseminations.
