Course Information
- Title:
- e-IRI_34_01 - Image Interpretation - Osteoporosis and Fragility Fracture
- Description:
-
The first session defines osteoporosis and describes the anatomy of normal and osteoporotic bone. The diagnosis of osteoporosis is discussed along with common causes and the demographics relating to it.
The second session defines fragility fractures and common mechanisms of injury. The third session defines osteoporotic vertebral fractures and explores techniques and best practice for identification. Both describe how good quality clinical reports can influence patient care and outcomes.
The fourth session explores how Imaging Departments can support the identification of vertebral fractures through audit and a change of practice. An example of using an audit to drive quality improvements is provided. This session also includes a self-evaluation exercise, a series of images to be interpreted, and examples of best practice reports. - Hierarchy:
