- Resources for Returning Midwives
- Description:
-
To support your return to clinical practice, we have created some e-learning training tools and created signposting to additional resources. Please note that some training will be accessed from the organisations you will be deployed in, such electronic fetal monitoring packages, Obstetric Skills and Drills, adult and neonatal resuscitation.
Obstetric Emergency Skills & Drills- Maternal Sepsis
- Hypertensive disorders
- Major Obstetric Haemorrhage (ante, intra, post-partum)
- Shoulder Dystocia
- Maternal Critical Care/Recognising the deteriorating patient
- Breech Presentation
- Cord Prolapse
We recommend that all returning midwives complete this training package, and also suggest benchmarking against the Capital Midwife skills passport to help identify areas you need to upskill/refresh.
Returning midwives, maternity support workers and senior student midwives can also access the RCM's i-learn for online learning resources designed to support continuing professional development. RCM members can access i-learn from their login page. We recommend that the following modules are accessed and completed on i-learn by individuals before starting in practice:
- Maternity high-dependency care
- How to recognise maternal sepsis
- The Code
Non-member access to i-learn The RCM has kindly given non-RCM members access to i-learn modules for three months (expiring 20 July 2020) to enable returners to complete the modules essential for return to clinical practice outlined above, as well as others of interest. If you are not currently an RCM member but are supporting clinical practice and wish to access i-learn, please create an account here: https://www.rcm.org.uk/registration/. Once you have registered, call RCM Connect on 0300 303 0444 to complete the process.
Any certificates or reflections uploaded to i-folio will only be available for the 12 weeks. To retain these beyond this period, we recommend printing or downloading them to your PC.
