- This course is designed for those who need to talk to patients who may have an elevated risk of cancer due to their genetic, to help them develop skills for communicating effectively with patients about the potential harms and benefits of treatment or screening options. The course was originally developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, and has been licensed to the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and adapted by the Winton Centre for Risk and Evidence Communication in association with the CanGene-CanVar programme for the UK. It draws on examples from patients who have genetic variants that increase their risk of cancer, consists of four parts and will take approximately two hours to complete.
