- Description:
- Using the information provided within the case studies, knowledge summaries and wider resources, this module will develop a contextual understanding of end of life and palliative care as associated with paramedic practice in emergency and urgent care. This includes consideration of the role of the ambulance service in end of life and palliative care, legal and ethical aspects of advance care planning as applied to paramedic practice, the importance of compassionate communication skills in palliative and end of life care, recognising the dying patient, holistic patient assessment and management, symptom management, recognition and management of palliative emergencies and additional considerations when someone dies.
