- IAPT Long Term Conditions Top-up Training

The national IAPT team has been working to develop digital content to support the delivery of IAPT LTC top-up training. This is intended to help promote consistency between courses and ensure that all trainees can learn from national experts in the relevant fields. Providing expert-authored resources to support the delivery of training will improve quality and increase access to training, and also provide a sustainable online delivery model following the ongoing implications of COVID-19. The digital resources are a suite of e-learning modules covering condition specific training content in each of the areas covered in the training curriculum outlined below.
The e-learning modules fall into two categories;
Long Term Conditions:
Cancer
Diabetes
Cardiac Disease
Respiratory disease / COPD*
Persistent Physical Symptoms:
IBS
Chronic Pain
Chronic Fatigue / Medically Unexplained Symptoms
There will also be a long COVID module to follow shortly.
Each e-learning module will cover the following key learning objectives:
• Provide an overview of the condition
• Outline the adverse impact of living with the condition
• Describe key issues to identify at assessment
• Outline a stepped care approach in the context of the condition
• Describe low and/or high intensity evidence-based protocols
• Summarise learning points and assess trainees understanding
The resources will be made available to Universities for them to use in their delivery of the overall training programme, which will continue to include large elements of face-to-face learning and skills practice, as part of a blended approach. - Created:
