This session provides information about the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines for administration during the autumn 2025 vaccination campaign to those aged 6 months to 11 years who are eligible.
The vaccines are: - Pfizer BioNTech Comirnaty LP.8.1 10 micrograms/dose dispersion for injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine. This will be referred to as Comirnaty LP.8.1 10 micrograms/dose throughout this session. It is only suitable for administration to eligible children aged 5 to 11 years.
Pfizer BioNTech Comirnaty LP.8.1 3 micrograms/dose concentrate for dispersion for injection COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine. This will generally be referred to as Comirnaty LP.8.1 3 micrograms/dose concentrate vaccine throughout this session. It is only suitable for administration to eligible children aged 6 months to 4 years.
Within this session, these vaccines will be collectively referred to as (the) children's mRNA or children’s Pfizer or Comirnaty vaccines.
This session provides healthcare workers with the knowledge they need to administer these vaccines to eligible children.
The Core Knowledge session covers legal aspects of vaccination, therefore, should be completed in addition to this vaccine-specific session by any staff member new to COVID-19 vaccination. It may also be revisited by experienced COVID-19 vaccinators.
Different types of COVID-19 vaccine have different storage, preparation and administration requirements. Vaccines produced by the same manufacturer, may, have different requirements. You must be familiar with the specific recommendations for the COVID-19 vaccine(s) you are delivering. A separate vaccine-specific elearning session for adults and young people aged 12 years and above is available.
