The (Children and Young People Mental Health) Healthcare Support Worker Certificate was funded by the Quality Improvement Taskforce. It was created by Health Education England in collaboration with experts across the system, included young advisors and parents with lived experience of mental health inpatient care. Healthcare Support Workers (or other similar support roles) make up a high percentage of the children and young people's mental health workforce, and therefore have significant influence to support young people and their families within inpatient services. The Healthcare Support Worker Certificate aims to provide a standardised approach to care across the country and improve the quality of care for children and young people who require admission to specialised inpatient units.
1. This training has been developed for healthcare professionals working within multi-disciplinary mental health teams, specifically for people who are employed as Healthcare Support Workers (or other similar job roles) who are working with children and young people in mental health inpatient services.
2. Some of the content is sensitive and relates to real life situations and involves supporting young people in distress, which you may find upsetting.
