- This session will give an overview of the Mental Health Act. Mental ill health can occur in any setting, be it a medical or surgical ward or even an outpatient setting. The Mental Health Act is not just used in psychiatric units, it can also be applied to other areas of the hospital site. That is why it is important for foundation doctors to have some knowledge about the Mental Health Act and in what circumstances it should be used.
