- This session will review how confidentiality guidance, including updated NHS England Transformation Directorate Guidance on patient confidentiality and the sharing of information on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV in England (2024), applies to the sexual health setting. It will also examine the specific issues which can arise in clinical practice across all 4 UK nations. It explains the legal and ethical framework relating to information sharing covering principles such as consent, public interest and the management of suspected breaches while enabling learners to recognise dilemmas and apply appropriate decision-making. Targeted at clinicians and allied health professionals this session aims to build confidence in safeguarding sensitive information within sexual health settings.
